Wednesday

Virginia is getting her g-tube on Wednesday. Not sure exactly what time we have to be there, but I'm sure it will be early. Hopefully we will only have to spend one night in the hospital. Findley and I both have a peace about this- it is the same peace we always have when we are in the thick of it and I am grateful for the Holy Spirit's work. He gets you ready when you have to be ready, but not before. We are ready.

Virginia's cough improved on the steroids, but is back to being a force to be reckoned with. I honestly don't feel like we have a choice about getting the tube if we want to protect her lungs. And obviously we want to protect her lungs.

I have talked to her about the surgery three different times. I have tried to think of every question she might have and answer it for her. She doesn't seem worried at all.

It seems like a g-tube is a simple, positive step for most families. Pray that we are in that large majority. Please pray for no pain, no infections, no reflux, and an easy transition to life with a tube. I am still trying to figure out if I am going to make her 'formula' or use a store-bought one like Complete. I think it will be months before we have our routine down.

Lots of you have asked if Virginia can still eat. Yes, she can. I will probably offer her food by mouth at all meals, but instead of 60 minute feedings, we will have ten minute ones and give the rest of her nutrition by tube.

Thank you, as always, for your prayers for our family.

I know you have been waiting for these, but we went to the pumpkin patch Saturday.

Not a great pic, but it is all 5 of us...

Eliza is sassy and hard to keep up with- a dangerous combo...

She also thinks her tall Daddy is a jungle gym

Those were taken at Wills' soccer game yesterday, as was this

I think Virginia's face says it all about the game..."Wills, you are kicking the ball in the wrong direction!"...

I got to go back to the pumpkin patch today on a field trip with my favorite kindergarten boy. All I have to say is God bless kindergarten teachers!

I will try to update when she is out of surgery Wednesday.

love,

Abby
